When we first arrived in Moab, we saw this interesting looking restaurant called the Pancake Haus. We had been driving up and down Main Street, and it caught our attention. I think it was the German spelling of House. Whatever the reason, we decided to go on Sunday morning and got there around 10:30 not thinking about the fact that it was Mother’s Day. They were slammed but we decided to wait it out. It wasn’t a real fancy place, but everyone was friendly. We had to wait about a half an hour, but we were glad we did. I just had the pancake, bacon and eggs, while Gene had the smothered burrito special on the marquee. It did take a while for us to get our order, but it was so worth it. Our server was friendly and came back a few times to make sure we were ok. I felt bad that we had to keep asking her for more soda, but they gave us the smallest little cups. I couldn’t believe it. They were smaller than the ones kids get at McDonalds or Burger King. Lol. However, we were both very pleased with our meals, and I was pleasantly surprised that the bacon was nice and crisp. Quite often restaurants will serve it raw in the middle and burnt on the ends, or vice versa. The fact that it was perfect made my morning, and definitely helped prepare us to take on another day of hiking. I would definitely suggest the Pancake Haus when in Moab. The next time we are there, I think I will try the crepes. They looked good, but since it was our first time there I had to try the pancakes. Like I said, Gene enjoyed hi meal, but thinks he will try the banana walnut pancakes the next time. Something for both of us to look forward to the next time we head out to Moab.
