Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award!!!

I Was Nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award !!!

sisterhoodI am thrilled and shocked to be nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award by Nicki at The Adventures of Lil Nicki. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It is so nice to be recognized when my blog is so new. I have only been at this since June, so this is incredible. It helps me stay focused and encouraged. With that said, here are the answers to my questions.

1. What has been your favorite destination you’ve traveled to?

Paris at Night2That’s an easy one, Paris definitely! We have been there a few times and I can’t get enough of the atmosphere and excitement of the city. I am definitely ready to go again, but promised myself that I wouldn’t go back until I went to a few other places first, lol.  I think Germany is the next place in Europe.

2. What is your funniest and/or most embarrassing travel story?

Musee d'OrsayI’d have to say it was an incident in a bathroom in Paris. The line was really long at the Musee d’Orsay so I, along with about a dozen other women,  jumped in the much shorter mens’ line. The stalls there are all enclosed so it is like a private little room. Well I wasn’t thinking and just threw open the door as I left and hit a man using the urinal right across from the door. I was so embarrassed; I just put my head down and ran out of the restroom without even washing my hands. I went into the women’s room, washed my hands, and waited a long time until I was sure he was long gone. Luckily I didn’t see him again, lol

3. What destination do you want to go to the most right now? Why?

ThailandI would really love to go to Thailand. I have been reading a lot of blogs lately about their adventures in Thailand and Southeast Asia. It just seems like a great place to visit and explore.

4. Who or what in your life inspired you to start your blog?

IMG_1932Mostly it was a lot of family and friends telling me I should start a blog since I am always going someplace 🙂  I thought about it and figured this would be a great way to let people keep up with my travels. I had created a website,  just wasn’t updating it as much as I should, and definitely not sharing it much. I knew that if I started a blog, I’d stay more committed to keeping it up to date and active. I also love to write, so it was a win-win for me.

5. Where is the weirdest place you’ve wound up?

I would have to say it was Ralston Cemetery in Dresden, a little tiny city in northwest Tennessee    Although it isn’t a weird place necessarily, what was weird about it was that I ended up there on Valentines day 2013. There is a short story that I would like to share about how I ended up here. My grandmother was born in Dresden in 1911 and sadly lost her mother when she was only 16 months old on February 14th, 1913. It was so sad that she never even got to know her mom, and my mom never knew her grandma. When I started doing some genealogy  in 2012 and  I realized it  It was exactly 100 years since my great grandmother had died, I knew I had to be there to commemorate the date of her passing. Thus I was in Dresden TN on Valentines day 2013. I even surprised my mom and Skyped with her from the cemetery.  Definitely a weird way to spend Valentines day,  but then again it is a day about love, right?

6. What do you miss most once you hit the road?

road trip2Depends on where I am going and for how long. Sadly I am not at a place, yet, in my life that I can travel for extended amounts of time. If so, I would have to say my family of course. However I don’t miss having a schedule, that’s for sure.

7. When was the moment that you realized travel was a huge part of your life?

VancouverWhen I haven’t even taken an upcoming trip and I was already planning the next two or three.  lol Lately my life has been all about saving for the next trip. I honestly can’t remember a time where I didn’t want to see more and explore more. It was always there, but didn’t really come out until I got a little older and was able to afford the money and time to travel more.

8. What have you learned about yourself through travel?

SandalsI have learned that little things like messed up reservations, etc. isn’t the end of the world. I’ve also learned that things don’t always go the way you plan it, but sometimes you are rewarded with things that you would never have expected. I guess basically I am learning to have a “go with the flow” kind of attitude. At least I am trying, lol

9. Where are you now?

I am living here in Denver, CO dreaming about my next 3 trips, lol.  I lived in southern California most of my life but moved here because I hated the weather (always the same), traffic, and the expense of California. Besides family and friends, I do miss my Anaheim Angles, and the ocean A LOT, but seeing the Rockies every day is a nice consolation prize. lol . It’s also nice being close to my Denver Broncos!

10. Where are you going next?

The Statue of Liberty and Manhattan Skyline

I am going to NYC in October for my birthday. I have been all over the U.S. Europe, and Mexico, but never New York. Crazy huh? I am so excited and can’t wait to see what there is to find in the city that never sleeps.  🙂

Thank YouI just want to say Thank You again Nicki so much for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award nomination. It means the world to me. And now, my female travel bloggers, the most important moment… drum roll please…
