Win a Souvenir from our Upcoming Trip to New York!

Brooklyn Bridge in New York CityI am beyond excited that our trip to New York City is only two weeks away! What started as a crazy statement after a few drinks last Halloween, is about to happen! We have been all over the U.S., parts of Europe and Mexico, but never been to New York City. Crazy huh? I have hardly been able to contain myself and have done a couple of recent posts about New York City. The first one was about the amazing Manhattan Bridges and the other one is titled The Top 10 Free Manhattan Activities on Our To-Do List.

Central Park in New Y ork CItyOn this post I am going to share some of the activities that we are planning on doing outside of Manhattan. However, I also wanted to share the fun with you, my readers. Details on the raffle and how to win a free New York City souvenir are below. As soon as we return home I am going to do several posts about our trip to New York (in and out of Manhattan) but until then, here are some other activities we are planning on doing in the state of New York.

Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New YorkThe main reason we are going to New York in the first place is to celebrate my birthday and go see the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. I have been yearning to go there since I was young, so this is going to be very special. The Hall’s motto is “Preserving History, Honoring Excellence, Connecting Generations.” I am really looking forward to seeing all the memorabilia and memories they have collected through the years. It will be exciting to see what they did for the latest inductees: Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and John Smoltz. I am dedicating a whole day for this. Do you think it will be enough time? Lol

Albany State Capitol in New YorkAnother reason we are heading to New York is to see the State Capitol Building in Albany. It looks amazing from some of the pictures my friends have shared from their visits. It was the most expensive government building of its time and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

USS Slater in ALbany, New YorkWhile in Albany we are going to go see the U.S.S. Slater. It is a Cannon-class destroyer escort that served in the United States Navy and later in the Hellenic (Greek) Navy. The ship was named for Frank O. Slater of Alabama. It is now a museum ship on the Hudson River and the only one of its kind afloat in the United States. It will be pretty cool to see.

Manhattan New York SkylineNow for the fun part, how to win the free New York City souvenir.  There are two way to be entered into the raffle. The first way is to sign up to receive emails when I submit a new post ( A HUGE thank you to those you are already signed up). I usually post new articles 2 or 3 times a week and promise not to flood your email box. Don’t forget to go into your email and confirm subscription. For everyone who signs up by the time we return on October 24th will have their name submitted twice into the raffle. The second way to enter is to simply submit a comment or reply to a comment on this post. That’s it. Everyone who does this, will have their name submitted once into the raffle.. Some suggestions for comments would be:

  • Sharing memories from on your trip to New York
  • What you would like to see in New York
  • Suggestions on places to see and things to do in the area would also be nice to read
  • If you haven’t been there but want me to check out something for you, please post those comments as well.

Once we return, I will randomly select a winner. Again you have until October 24th to submit your comments. I thought it would be a great way for everyone to share their fun memories. I look forward to reading all your comments. –   Samantha
