Remember the Alamo? A Unique History Lesson

alamoOn a trip to Texas we spent a few days in the San Antonio area and had a blast.  We enjoyed spending some time at the River Walk as well as our tour of The Alamo.  I heard it was small, but I was quite surprised at how small it really was when seeing it for the first time.  It’s amazing that this is where the Spanish colonization first took hold, Mexico armed its independence and even the Confederacy stood its ground. Our Visit to the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee

jack daniels glassOn our last trip to Tennessee we met us with some friends and decided to do the tour at Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg.  We had a blast and learned a lot about the distilling process. For those of you who don’t know, Jack Daniels is the top selling American whiskey in the world, owned and by the Brown-Forman Corporation since 1956.  An interesting note, is that despite being the location of a major operational distillery, Jack Daniels home county of Moore is a dry county, so the product is not available for consumption at stores or restaurants within the county. Crazy huh?  Continue reading Our Visit to the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee

Musée d’Orsay Museum – Paris, France

Musee-dOrsayWe have traveled quite a bit since we got married, but there is one place that grabbed a hold of me and makes me want to go back trip after trip. I am talking about Paris and the city of lights. One of the things I enjoyed seeing the most amazing collections of impressionist and post-impressionist art in the world. While the Louvre is amazing, there is one place I enjoyed more, The Musée d’Orsay.  I fell in love with this museum. Continue reading Musée d’Orsay Museum – Paris, France

Illustrious Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco, CA

Golden Gate 1I have said this on a few posts, but I love bridges! My latest bridge post was  Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Florida. Today I take you to the Bay area of California to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.  This iconic bridge, according to Frommers travel guide, is described as possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed bridge in the world. I have to agree, that it is quite amazing.  Continue reading Illustrious Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco, CA
