Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial Brought up Many Emotions

On our recent trip to Oahu we were able to see the USS Arizona Memorial and pay respect to those lives lost on Pearl Harbor Dec 7th, 1941.  It was so surreal and an experience that I will never forget.  I am glad we were able to make it, especially after it had to be rescheduled due to Obama and the Prime Minister touring the memorial the same day as we were scheduled. Just our luck, lol. But it worked out and we were able to visit the day before.  Continue reading “Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial Brought up Many Emotions”

Wonderful Indoor Farmers Market at Hyatt Regency, Waikiki

Farmers Market One of the cool things about being at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki is being able to enjoy the Farmers Market they hold every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 4-8 pm. We hit it right after watching the amazing Hula Show on Kuhio Beach. We should have gone earlier, as we only had an hour after the show. It still worked out well though. I was happy that they not only have great food, they also have craft tables. Continue reading “Wonderful Indoor Farmers Market at Hyatt Regency, Waikiki”

Top 5 Memorable Places I Want to Visit Again

We have been blessed, and have been able to travel quite a bit. Not as much as we would like, but definitely more than a lot of people I know. No matter where we go, or how long we are there, it never seems to be enough time. I always leave sad and wanting more time to explore and learn to appreciate what the country, city or area has to offer. Sadly a week, or even two weeks is not enough. While we have traveled a lot, there have been a few places that grabbed me, and I find myself day-dreaming about being able to visit again one day.  Today, I want to visit these 5 cities and countries again.  There is so much more to see and do  🙂  Continue reading “Top 5 Memorable Places I Want to Visit Again”

Our Amazing Pineapple Experience at the Dole Plantation

While we were on Oahu we decided to do another local tourist thing and we visited the Dole Plantation. It was a lot different than what I was expecting. Then again, I guess I really didn’t know what to expect. What I was expecting was the beautiful scenery around the plantation. I wasn’t disappointed. We were all over the island, so these are random shots from all over the place. Continue reading “My 8 Favorite Beach Pictures from Stunning Oahu”

Ala Moana Center – Largest Open Air Center in the World

Ala Moana Shopping CenterI am not a huge shopper or shopaholic as many people call them, but I do enjoy strolling around malls that are new to me, especially one as grand as Ala Moana Center. Gene had gone to see the USS Missouri, and I decided to hang back in Waikiki and check out this amazing center.  Continue reading “Ala Moana Center – Largest Open Air Center in the World”

Hawaii State Capitol Building – Aloha State

Hawaii State Capitol BuildingOur continual pursuit of visiting all 50 state capitol buildings led us to the Hawaii State Capitol in Honolulu. We have been to more than half of the capitols, and this one had some of the most friendly workers and tour guides. We could definitely feel the aloha spirit here. Before we even started the tour, we were let into one of the offices to take a picture of their Bronze State Seal. I love the seals, and this was so nice of them to let us do this.  Continue reading “Hawaii State Capitol Building – Aloha State”

Where To Get the Best Plate Lunches On Oahu

One of the things that everyone told me I would enjoy while in Hawaii (besides the ocean of course)  was the food, especially the plate lunches. I didn’t know exactly what that meant  yet, but I quickly found out and we had quite a few plate lunches during our visit. Actually, it was pretty much all we ate. Below are four of the places we enjoyed the most while on the island. Continue reading “Where To Get the Best Plate Lunches On Oahu”

Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower

Hilton Hawaiian VillageIn an earlier Ultimate Blog Challenge post this month I shared our experience at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki and today I wanted to share a little about the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  We did not stay here, nor sadly did we even step inside of the hotel.  We visited the hotel for two interesting reasons.   Continue reading “Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower”
