While my niece Alex and I were in Phoenix we wanted some good Mexican food. We jumped on our phone and found a place that the locals go, Comedor Guadalajara. It states that they are a family owned and operated Mexican food restaurant located in South Central Phoenix, AZ. For over 40 years, they’ve been serving Phoenix’s finest Mexican food with exciting dishes and unique ambiance. It sounded great, even though they said the average 25-40 minute wait. It didn’t bother us to wait, and that usually means the food is really worthy. J We made our way there and had to fight to find a parking spot. That was another good sign that the food is good. The wait actually wasn’t that long even though there were quite a few people waiting. We were so glad we waited as the food was traditional and amazing. While we were waiting to be seated we both decided on the 3 Carne Asada Tacos. I hadn’t had Carne Asada for a long time (nothing good here in Colorado 🙁 ) so it was such a great treat. After we placed our order our server brought us some chips and salsa, as well as our delicious Margaritas. They were amazing and just what we needed after a day of running around Phoenix. It was also the first time we had a drink together since she turned 21, so it was special on a few levels. Our food came up pretty quickly, and we dug in after a few hasty pictures. 🙂 Our food was AMAZING. I loved that they were served on the smaller traditional tortillas. I am so glad we found Comedor Guadalajara and I would love to go again the next time I am in Phoenix. I highly suggest checking it out the next time you are in the area. One more thing I wanted to point out was that they don’t take reservations. However, even if there is a wait, it seemed to go rather quickly. Here is a link to their website with more info, address and hours.

We just recently celebrated Valentines’ day and it made me start thinking about some of the Valentines celebration in the past. Since Gene was working nights for quite a few years we tried to take a 3-day weekend somewhere to just get away and enjoy some time together. One year, we spent three days in Amarillo and had a blast. Dinner on Valentines found us at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. Continue reading The Big Texan Steak Ranch – Home of the 72oz Steak
One of the things that everyone told me I would enjoy while in Hawaii (besides the ocean of course) was the food, especially the plate lunches. I didn’t know exactly what that meant yet, but I quickly found out and we had quite a few plate lunches during our visit. Actually, it was pretty much all we ate. Below are four of the places we enjoyed the most while on the island. Continue reading Where To Get the Best Plate Lunches On Oahu
Early last year we joined the Hyatt Reward program and have enjoyed using it a few times. Just for signing up we received two free nights, which was great. After some debate, we decided to use them in one of the most exciting places, NYC. While in NY, we spent two amazing nights at the Andaz on 5th Avenue right across from the Stephen Schwarzman Liibrary. While we have stayed at three different properties since we joined their program, and found each one wonderful and quite unique, there was just something special about the Andaz. I am very excited that fall is almost here, and that also means the return of green chilies as well as Good Times Burgers and Frozen Custard’s Hatch Valley Green Chile Menu. I am embarrassed to admit that my husband and I have lived here for almost 10 years, but I had not tried any food with green chilies which Coloradans boast about so proudly. Thus we a representative reached out and asked me if I was willing to try an item off of their Green Chile Menu for a blog post, I was more than happy to oblige. We decided to visit the location in Westminster, CO off of 92nd and Wadsworth. We had been here quite a few times, and enjoy sitting outside on their patio when it isn’t too hot or too cold. The restaurant is in a little shopping center and there is usually plenty of parking. Continue reading Hatch Valley Green Chile Torta at Good Times Burgers and Frozen Custard
2We had a great time in Chicago, and really enjoyed visiting some of the sights like Willis Tower, the Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry and Millennium Park. However one of the more relaxing and enjoyable things we did in the windy city, was checking out the Navy Pier. It is quite a unique place and I am so glad we spent a few hours roaming around and seeing what there was to see. Continue reading Navy Pier, Chicago – Over a 100 Years in the Making
We just got back recently from Vancouver and had a great time. It was our anniversary so while we were there we decided to visit The Vancouver Lookout Tower at Harbour Centre. It was absolutely amazing. I know I say that a lot, but it really was. It is the only place in Vancouver that you can enjoy a 360º aerial view of Vancouver. The best part was that it was an all-day ticket and we were able to go back later that evening after dinner. Continue reading The Vancouver Lookout Tower at Harbour Centre
When you talk to people about Casa Bonita in Lakewood, CO there are usually mixed reviews. However, it is still something everyone spending time in Colorado wants to experience at least once. My niece had heard of Casa Bonita from South Park, but had no idea that it was real. When she found out it was, she had to go. So after a day of playing at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, we stopped in for dinner on our way back. Continue reading Casa Bonita – Entertainment in Lakewood, CO
While in New York City we ate a quite a few nice restaurants, but there was one that I really had wanted to visit while in the city, Serendipity 3. I had heard a lot about this renowned Upper East side restaurant and thought it would be fun to visit and try one of their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate drinks.

As the world flocks to coffee houses every morning like their lives depend on it, I am heading for my cup of tea. I am not a coffee drinker, but I understand that some people can’t function in the morning until there first cup. I just never acquired the taste I guess. But I have grown a fond liking of Celestial Seasonings teas, here in Boulder, Colorado, especially the Peppermint and Mint Magic, yum. Continue reading Celestial Seasonings – True to Their Roots
