Pagosa Springs Resort and Spa – My Embarrassing Story

On a recent trip we were able to finally spend a few days down in Pagosa Springs, CO.  It is a beautiful area we drove through a couple of times, but never had the chance to stay or explore the area. While we were there we took an afternoon to spend some time at the Pagosa Springs Resort and Spa.  It was absolutely wonderful, up until the very end. I will explain in a few, but let me share our amazing visit up to that point. Continue reading “Pagosa Springs Resort and Spa – My Embarrassing Story”

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park – Our Thrilling Visit Part 2

On my last post I shared some of our visit to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon City. It was a spectacular visit.  Here is a link to Part 1 in case you missed it.  I ended that post after watching the video in the Plaza Theater. I left the theater sad, but glad that no one was hurt during the fire that destroyed much of that park. Happily the park was able to reopen after much clean up, planning, planting, and rebuilding. I don’t know what it was like before the fire, but it is a beautiful park today. We eventually made our way to the bridge after stopping to check out the Entertainment Stage. I was so excited to start walking across the bridge. We have been on a few suspension bridges in the past, but not one with such amazing views no matter which way you looked. Royal Gorge Bridge & Park – Our Thrilling Visit Part 1

We have done quite a few amusing and exciting things while traveling, but sometimes we forget to do things in our own backyard, state, etc. Recently we had the opportunity to do something we have wanted to do since moving to Colorado 10 years ago. We finally made it to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon City. It was a spectacular experience in more ways than one. So spectacular in fact, that it is going to take two posts to share our visit. Link to Part 2 is on the bottom of this post.  Continue reading “Royal Gorge Bridge & Park – Our Thrilling Visit Part 1”

Step Back in Time at the Mesa Verde National Park – Colorado

While on a fall trip to take a ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, we took a short ride to check out Mesa Verde National Park.  The park has some of the best preserved Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the United States. I wasn’t sure what to expect when we decided to visit, but it was definitely more interesting than I have envisioned.  Continue reading “Step Back in Time at the Mesa Verde National Park – Colorado”

Trade a Minute of Your Time For a Colorado Souvenir

I have been blogging for over a year and a half now and  have enjoyed sharing our stories and experiences as we travel all over the US, Canada, Europe and Mexico. As much as I write my blog as a way to relive our trips, I write it for  you, my readers. I write it hoping that you will glean some information, maybe relive a memory, or intrigue you enough to plan  your own experience.  Continue reading “Trade a Minute of Your Time For a Colorado Souvenir”

Welcome to 2017 and My Ultimate Blog Challenge!

Ultimate Blog ChallengeHello everyone and welcome to 2017! Hope you all had a fun and exciting New Year’s. I am starting out the year doing the Ultimate Blog Challenge, but more on that in a minute. As far as our end of 2016, we did something we had never done, and spent Christmas on the beautiful island of Oahu.  New Year’s Eve we spent on the beach in Waikiki, talking to a couple from New Zealand and watching fireworks on the water at midnight. It was phenomenal. An incredible way to ring in a new year! Continue reading “Welcome to 2017 and My Ultimate Blog Challenge!”

Road Trip – Loveland Pass and the Continental Divide

Loveland PassThe weather in Colorado had been unseasonably warm during November, thus my Gene and I decided to take advantage of the calm weather and took a little road trip. We ended up visiting the Dillon Reservoir and Loveland Pass on the Continental Divide. For those of you who don’t know, I wanted to share that Loveland Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 11,990 feet in the Rocky Mountains of north-central Colorado. The pass is named for William A.H. Loveland, the president of the Colorado Central Railroad and a resident of Golden during the late 19th century.  Continue reading “Road Trip – Loveland Pass and the Continental Divide”

Beautiful Views at Dillon Reservoir – Dillon, Colorado

On a short day trip to Loveland Pass earlier this year, we decided to stop by Dillon Reservoir and spend a few minutes to check it out. Sometimes referred to as Lake Dillon, it is a large fresh water reservoir located in Summit County, Colorado, south of 1-70 and bordered by the towns of Frisco, Silverthorne, and Dillon Continue reading “Beautiful Views at Dillon Reservoir – Dillon, Colorado”

All Aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

There is nothing like a train trip, except a scenic fall train trip in October for your birthday. Gene and I went to Durango, CO one year and took a train trip on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It was phenomenal and breathtaking. I couldn’t believe the amazing views around every turn. The best part was that the tickets were a gift from a customer at my former company.  That just made it even sweeter.  Continue reading “All Aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad”
