Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial Brought up Many Emotions

On our recent trip to Oahu we were able to see the USS Arizona Memorial and pay respect to those lives lost on Pearl Harbor Dec 7th, 1941.  It was so surreal and an experience that I will never forget.  I am glad we were able to make it, especially after it had to be rescheduled due to Obama and the Prime Minister touring the memorial the same day as we were scheduled. Just our luck, lol. But it worked out and we were able to visit the day before.  Continue reading “Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial Brought up Many Emotions”

Our Amazing Pineapple Experience at the Dole Plantation

While we were on Oahu we decided to do another local tourist thing and we visited the Dole Plantation. It was a lot different than what I was expecting. Then again, I guess I really didn’t know what to expect. What I was expecting was the beautiful scenery around the plantation. I wasn’t disappointed. My 8 Favorite Beach Pictures from Stunning Oahu

Oahu Beach PicturesWe are officially past the halfway mark in the January Ultimate Blog Challenge. Today was a day to just share a favorite picture or two with our readers. With that said, I decided to share 8 of my favorite beach pictures from our recent trip to Oahu. I picked 8 in honor of the 8 Hawaiian Islands. We were all over the island, so these are random shots from all over the place. Continue reading “My 8 Favorite Beach Pictures from Stunning Oahu”

Hawaii State Capitol Building – Aloha State

Hawaii State Capitol BuildingOur continual pursuit of visiting all 50 state capitol buildings led us to the Hawaii State Capitol in Honolulu. We have been to more than half of the capitols, and this one had some of the most friendly workers and tour guides. We could definitely feel the aloha spirit here. Before we even started the tour, we were let into one of the offices to take a picture of their Bronze State Seal. I love the seals, and this was so nice of them to let us do this.  Continue reading “Hawaii State Capitol Building – Aloha State”

Where To Get the Best Plate Lunches On Oahu

One of the things that everyone told me I would enjoy while in Hawaii (besides the ocean of course)  was the food, especially the plate lunches. I didn’t know exactly what that meant  yet, but I quickly found out and we had quite a few plate lunches during our visit. Actually, it was pretty much all we ate. Below are four of the places we enjoyed the most while on the island. Continue reading “Where To Get the Best Plate Lunches On Oahu”

Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower

Hilton Hawaiian VillageIn an earlier Ultimate Blog Challenge post this month I shared our experience at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki and today I wanted to share a little about the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  We did not stay here, nor sadly did we even step inside of the hotel.  We visited the hotel for two interesting reasons.   Continue reading “Hilton Hawaiian Village Fireworks and Rainbow Tower”

The Panoramic View from Nu‘uanu Pali Lookout

We have been traveling a lot for the last few years and it can be quite expensive depending on where you are visiting. However, no matter where we go, we have learned to do a lot of online searching and find free or cheaper activities in the area.  We also will use things like Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. There are a lot of these types of online services out there today, not to mention all the blog posts!  This is how I found one of the first places we visited in Hawaii, Nu‘uanu Pali and Nu‘uanu Pali Lookout. Four Amazing Tropical Drinks in Hawaii

Ultimate Blog Challenge Day 4 – There are some great things that come in fours, but my most recent favorite four things come in the form of liquids drinks, lol. I am not a huge drinker, but we were on Oahu and how can you not like all the amazing tropical drinks on the islands? While many were good, there were four that stood out to me more than the other drinks.  Continue reading “Four Amazing Tropical Drinks in Hawaii”

Welcome to 2017 and My Ultimate Blog Challenge!

Ultimate Blog ChallengeHello everyone and welcome to 2017! Hope you all had a fun and exciting New Year’s. I am starting out the year doing the Ultimate Blog Challenge, but more on that in a minute. As far as our end of 2016, we did something we had never done, and spent Christmas on the beautiful island of Oahu.  New Year’s Eve we spent on the beach in Waikiki, talking to a couple from New Zealand and watching fireworks on the water at midnight. It was phenomenal. An incredible way to ring in a new year! Continue reading “Welcome to 2017 and My Ultimate Blog Challenge!”

Thoughts after 6 Months of Blogging & My 6 Top Posts

6_monthsFirst of all, a HUGE thank you to all of my readers. I appreciate you more than you know. You have kept me going with your comments and suggestions. It has been a fun but busy 6 months and I look forward to what the next 6 months will bring. For those bloggers out there reading my posts, you know what I mean. When I first started this blog I thought I would be able to just write an article, post it on my blog and maybe share it on Facebook and Twitter once in a while. I quickly realized that I had a lot to learn. I also didn’t realize how much of a time commitment it would be. Continue reading “Thoughts after 6 Months of Blogging & My 6 Top Posts”
